TV advertising

Context The target demographic of the audience such as age, gender, ethnicity, location, economic status. The target psychographic of the audience such as personality, values, attitudes, interests and lifestyle. The intended values, attitudes and beliefs of a brand. Analysis of different adverts Advert 1 - Dairy milk gorilla  This advert is very humorous since it’s unusual that a gorilla can play the drums. I think it’s aimed at a younger audience since children tend to believe animals that have human like characteristics are real. Also children are more likely to see the funny side to this advert although many adults would too. The values, attitudes and beliefs that Cadbury are trying to display in this advert is the joy that their chocolate brings to people, even gorillas.  Advert 2 - Sainsbury’s Christmas ad 2014 This advert is set in World War One around Christmas time, both the English and German army are singing silent night on Christmas Eve which shows the audience this sense of

Typical features of the horror genre

mise-en-scene - dark forest  - old house  - cemetery - low key lighting  - knives and weapons  - blood  - violence  - red and black colours - pathetic fallacy, storms, rain sound  - people screaming  - high pitch diegetic sound  Editing techniques and plots   - people disappearing  - jump scares  Steve Neale's genre theory - he argues that genres are not created but are developed through a process where producers use similar codes and conventions in productions which then become repeated.  "Genres are instances of repetition and difference."

AS Lighting Practice Task

Image
Key points about lighting - It is easier to make footage darker than lighter. - The lighting sets the mood. Types of lighting 3-point Fill Lighting - 3 lights create a normal looking scene with soft shadows and average colours. This is used in most 'normal' scenes with any object in focus.   Chiaroscuro - harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between different areas of the shot, such as a characters face. Common in horrors.  High key lighting - uses harsh, bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, giving the scene a white-washed, clean look that does not have any shadow in frame. Used commonly in beauty adverts.  Low key lighting - Creates shadows and contrast between colours. It is used to create atmosphere and is often used in thrillers, horrors or romantic imagery.  Back lighting - when the scene is lit directly from behind, usually by some form of natural light, where it is used to create a silhouette. Common in romantic films.  Natural lighting - comes from th

Initial Ideas For My Main NEA

I am going to make four 15 second adverts for a horror channel for my main NEA and my channel name is going to be "Scream TV". I am thinking my channel slogan is going to be "never trust anyone" and i am going to play on this in my adverts by something unexpected happening in every one.  For example, for one of my adverts, i am thinking of having two people watching a vampire or horror film and then one of them starts turning into a vampire and bites the other unexpectedly then the slogan will come up saying "never trust anyone".   For a different advert, a couple are going to be at home having a romantic meal however the wife poisons her husbands wine or kills him violently then the slogan will come up at the end again saying “never trust anyone”.

Class Drama

In order to get more experience of filming and editing (due to the pandemic restrictions) we came up with an idea for a whole class drama. The plot, characters and filming was completed by the class. It gave us some practice of multi-camera filming, sequencing and editing for meaning and being creative when filming. With my edit i decided to focus on the teacher who was completely unaware of the disappearing children in the class. I added spooky and suspenseful music to give a horror effect to my edit. I also added titling of the name of my edit "Disappearing" and named everyone who was part of the production on rolling credits at the end.  https://youtu.be/iOyU9Rt-iBU

Continuity task

For this task we were asked to demonstrate some new camera shots and editing techniques we have learnt. In my video I used a tracking shot as well as a cutaway shot and a mid shot. I also used a black and white filter as well as some old comedy music to give it an old movie look.
